ECWA Secondary School Makurdi is a distinguished evangelical co-educational institution dedicated to nurturing students academically and spiritually. ECWA Secondary School Makurdi was founded as a faith project by ECWA Church No.1 English LCB, Makurdi, on September 1, 1982. The school initially operated from ECWA Church No.1, Barracks Road, before relocating to its permanent site on October 31, 1983, along Old Lafia Road in North Bank, Makurdi. It received Phase III approval on November 11, 1987, and later, Phase IV approval on December 8, 1987, making it eligible for government grant aid. Starting with just 27 students, 3 youth corps members, and 5 staff, the school has grown into a reputable institution. In September 2009, it became fully private, operating as a mission school committed to academic excellence and faith-based learning.
